Linkedin “Open API” is not that open anymore..
LinkedIn is implementing new API changes that will affect the way WordPress Social Invitations plugin works.
Currently an user can browse their connections, choose some of them and send DM right to their inbox. In the next days that won’t be possible anymore ,new apps are already failing to achieve so and old apps will start failing after May 12.
So if you are using WSI version <= 2.5.3 and you created the app a while ago, it will remain working until May 12. If you create a new app right now you will get an error saying you lists of contacts is empty.
How WSI will work from now on?
Well it will basically change to be a simple sharing tool that will post a message on user’s wall. No connections will be involved at all, no inbox or emails message. Just a simple status updated.
Sadly there is nothing we can do about it other than provide this very basic LinkedIn integration.
We will update both plugin and release it to public as soon as possible
